Extech BR250 Inspection Camera Review

The Extech BR250 Video Borescope/Wireless Inspection Camera is an awesome camera that makes getting into, and seeing what’s inside, under or around those hard to reach spaces an effortless task. Not only is the camera head smaller than the average one, but the BR250 also has some very substantial and desirable features. For instance, the Extech BR250 has the ability to record video and capture images on a micro SD card.

In addition, it has a wireless LCD screen that users can detach and continue to use which makes it lighter and even more manoeuvrable than models that have permanently attached screens. This device is designed for use in industries where tasks such as (but certainly not limited to) automotive inspections, peat control, HVAC inspections and electrical inspection are a daily occurrence.

No problem, because the Extech BR250 has a comprehensive user’s manual that will get new users up to speed quickly. And don’t forget, this device offers the ability to record on micro SD, which is not a common feature among inspection cameras.

As stated above, the camera comes with a 2GB Micro SD memory. For users who feel that’s not enough memory space, there’s the flexibility to purchase a larger memory card capacity that will hold more images and video. If you find that you need a little help accessing an area, additional extension cables and attachments are also available. This Inspection System is powered by AA batteries. To be on the safe side, always carry extras to prevent running out of power in the middle of a job.

What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Extech BR250?

An often overlooked benefit is the BR250’s carrying case. It’s strong, hard plastic and will take the bouncing and banging in the back of a work truck and still keep the camera safe and secure. Perhaps one of the greatest advantages users get with the Extech BR250 video borescope/wireless inspection camera is that they can readily capture and transport images, as well as video, right to a computer.

This is beneficial because it allows images and video to be sent directly to a client as well as gives users the ability to see an enlarged view of the area. Being able to view the detachable display screen from up to 32 feet away is awesome when working with a partner – especially if the client is on-site and wants a bird’s eye view without actually entering the work area.

One Caveat: While the size of the camera head is compact and convenient and is even one of the smallest heads available (which is excellent for getting into tight spaces) the focusing ability may be a bit of a disappointment. Getting extremely close up detailed views of and inspection area is not really possible with the BR250 because the focus range is about 6-10 inches. With that said, for normal use in crawl spaces, it certainly gets the job done.

3-Power-Zoom

This 3 power zoom is capable of allowing the user to get a close-up view of a potential trouble spot or other smaller points of interest.

Attachments

Available attachments include Mirror for even better access; Hook for picking up objects in tight spaces; Magnet for grabbing on to magnetic objects.

Charger

The 411S1 inspection camera is Energy Star qualified. It features a Lithium-ion battery for quick charging by its ES qualified 12-volt charger. This Lithium-ion battery is a smaller battery than the older more outdated technology found in the rechargeable Ni-Cad cells of old.

Durable and Rugged Protective Case

The DeWalt stores away safely within a hard plastic, protective case. This means that those rough, bouncing rides in the back of a work truck are no match for the Dewalt DCT411S1 Inspection Camera.

3-Year Limited Warranty

Dewalt stands behind their products and unlike some other manufacturers, they’ve back this device up with a limited 3-year warranty. For the professional who knows a quality inspection camera is a necessity and that it’s also key to providing quality service and a displaying a knowledgeable, professional image, the DeWalt DC411S1 is a prime product at a very reasonable price.
