The probe is articulated so that it can follow curves in a tube, a wall, or a pipe. However, one side note: to prevent potential damage to the VideoScope, the manufacturer cautions not to manoeuvre the articulation knob when the probe is wound, and always return the knobs (both tension and articulation) to a neutral location preceding the withdrawal of the probe from the inspection area. Extech designs their probes to work with multiple monitors. Specifically, the HDV-TX1 is designed to work with the HDV series video scopes. This gives users some freedom in selecting the monitor with their preference of features.
Speaking of features, the Extech HDV Series monitors offer many desired elements such as a glare-free close-up, LEDs to illuminate the field of view during an inspection, ability to store more than 14,000 images on an incorporated (with the monitor) SD card. Additionally, it’s capable of recording four (4) hours of video that can also include vocal explanations to help relay the details of the inspection to clients and customers.
There’s an output to direct the signal to a different monitor or computer. Video and images can be relocated to a PC by using either the SD card or a USB cable. The monitors, which are sold independently from the probe, include the SD card and one rechargeable Lithium polymer battery. The Lithium polymer battery is the next stage in batteries – after the lithium-ion phase.
The difference is that a solid polymer matrix is used for the lithium ions. They’re considered tougher and more durable than their predecessor counterparts. The Extech HDV-TX1Inspection Camera transmits a signal that can be captured up to 100 feet away. With so many features, it’s easy to see that this is one inspection camera system with the capability of being utilized in virtually any inspection situation.
Flexibility, versatility, ease of use and lightweight manoeuvrability are some pretty impressive qualities in a professional borescope and inspection probe. The Extech Instruments HDV-TX1 6mm Articulating Video-Scope Camera Head with 1 Meter Semi-Rigid Cable is a precision instrument that’s ideal for professional inspections.
