General Tool DCS200 Inspection Camera Review

If you enjoy real-time viewing through a 2.4-inch color monitor, you will love the General Tool DCS200. This camera has a flexible 12mm probe and it retains its figure as it contours to inspect those hard to reach places. This probing device is perfect for mechanics as they struggle to find problems in those close-in places under the hood. They are perfect for the electrician as he or she crawls inside those narrow spaces where larger spotlights are just too big to fit. They are also perfect for plumbers as they have the most difficult job. Their job requires them to diagnose and deal with plumbing issues that are sometimes seemingly impossible to reach places like behind walls, in ceilings, and even in floors.

However, the flexible probe with the hook and magnet, and little mirror are just right for all the above situations. The probe is 36 ¼ inch, the head is ½ inch, and the monitor is an LCD style which is 2 3/8 inches with a viewing field of 60 deg. It has two LED lights, which are both adjustable, and it uses a 9-volt battery. The dimensions of the inspection camera are 15 x 12 x 3 ½. The camera also has its own carrying case, which is not waterproof.

Customer Review

One customer stated that his purchase of the Borescope was one of both pros and cons. He says he returned the camera and ordered another because of poor imagery. However, he stated that this was just the way this camera works. He did like the fact that this camera does work great at some distances and it makes a great surveillance camera. He definitely likes the price and the fact that it comes with a battery and a carrying case only sweetens the deal. His likes and dislikes of this product were about the same.

Another customer had a very different experience with his camera. He says he does a lot of home maintenance work, such as plumbing, fixing water leaks, hot water heaters, dishwashers, auto repairs, and electrical repairs. With all of these tasks to complete this customer was happy to see his DCS200. He says he finds this tool to be efficient, especially in small places where space is tight. He said he spent years fixing things he could not see but the scope has brought him light and saved him money by being able to do things himself that were previously not possible. He says that having this camera scope around makes his chores at home less stressful and more productive.

The General Tool DCS200 is particularly well suited for those homeowners who find themselves handling repairs around their home. The average homeowner does not have a need for some of the bells and whistles that are found on some of the higher-priced inspection cameras. While still an investment, this camera will pay for itself the first time you do not have to call in a professional for a small repair that you can do yourself if you can only see and diagnose the problem in a tight space. That issue is solved with this camera, and every job it helps you do is money saved, making it a good investment for every handy homeowner.
