The eyebolt and fork pocket forklift magnetic both work in different ways:
Eyebolt forklifts
Step 1 – Attach eyebolt forklift magnetic sweeper
There are two ways to attach the eyebolt magnetic sweeper to the forklift truck: either with a metal rod or a chain.
To attach with a metal rod, simply place the magnetic sweeper on the floor with the fork tines touching the top. Next place a metal rod through the eyebolts over the fork tines to hold it in place.
To attach the forklift magnetic sweeper with a chain, you will need a galvanised chain with a snap hook attached onto either end.
Simply attach each snap hook to an eyebolt to secure the chain. Next, place the fork tines through the loop created by the chain to use the magnetic sweeper.
Step 2 – Set magnetic sweeper height
Set the fork tines and the magnetic sweeper to 51-102mm (2-4″) off the floor for maximum efficiency.
Step 3 – Collect ferromagnetic material
Drive the forklift truck at a maximum speed of 8mph over the spilt material to collect it. If you drive any faster than this the magnet will not have time to pick up all of the material effectively.
Step 4 – Remove ferromagnetic material
To release the material from the magnetic sweeper, if there is no release system, simply wipe it off with a wire brush.
Step 5 – Remove eyebolt forklift magnetic sweeper
To remove the magnetic sweeper from the forklift truck, place it on the floor and either take out the metal rod from between the eyebolts or remove the chain from the fork tines.
Fork pocket forklift
Step 1 – Attach fork pocket forklift magnetic sweeper
To attach the magnetic sweeper to the fork lift truck, make sure the bolts are loose so that the fork pocket is fully open. Next, place the fork tines through the fork pockets either by moving the fork tines into position or by lifting the magnet onto them. Then tighten the bolts by turning them clockwise when the magnet is in the correct position.
Step 4 – Remove ferromagnetic material
To release the material from the magnetic sweeper, if there is no release system, simply wipe it off with a wire brush. However, if your magnetic sweeper is supplied with a release system, pull up the handle to release the material.
Step 5 – Remove fork pocket forklift magnetic sweeper
To remove the magnetic sweeper from the forklift truck again, lower the fork tines until the magnet is placed on the floor. Next, loosen the bolts on the fork pockets and reverse your forklift truck away from the magnetic sweeper until the fork tines are completely clear.
