How to insert a mortar rake in an SDS plus drill?

On SDS plus drills, the chuck works differently to that on standard power drills. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
 |
|
As a result, a mortar rake designed for an SDS plus drill needs to be screwed onto an adaptor that sits between the mortar rake and the chuck. |

Removing an old bit

Step 1 – Pull down sleeve
To remove a bit from the chuck, pull down the chuck sleeve/outer collar. |

Inserting a mortar rake

Step 1 – Install adaptor, mortar rake and dust extraction
A mortar rake screws onto an adaptor before being inserted into a SDS Plus Drill. |

Step 2 – Install mortar rake
Push the mortar rake adaptor into the chuck. |

|
|

Step 3 – Turn adaptor
Turn the adaptor until it slots into place. |

Step 4 – Install mortar rake
On the other end of the adaptor, you can install the mortar rake. |

Step 5 – Attach dust extraction unit
To the adaptor you can then add a dust extraction unit. |
