When cleaning a gasket, you may also require the following tools:
A gasket scraper or set
Paper tissues
An air blow gun
Gasket spray remover
Step 1 – Prevent residue from falling
Cover any surrounding holes or parts with paper tissue to prevent any residue falling into these areas.
Step 2 – Apply gasket remover spray
Apply gasket remover spray to the area you are working on. This will soften the residue and make it easier to remove.
Step 3 – Place scraper blade
Place the edge of the blade underneath the residue so the scraper makes contact with the surface you are scraping at a 45 degree angle.
Step 4 – Push scraper
Use both hands to slowly push the scraper along the surface, allowing the blade to remove the residue. Repeat this motion until all the residue has been removed.
Step 5 – Wipe surface
Once all the residue has been removed, wipe the surface with a paper towel to remove any debris.
Step 6 – Remove debris
If available, use an air blow gun to remove any hard to reach areas.
