The convex cutting edges allow hollow and coved wooden surfaces to be scraped. They are useful when making, for instance, some furniture parts and wooden bowls.
Concave scraper cutting edges
The concave cutting edges permit scraping of spindles, skirting boards and many other rounded surfaces.
If the concave or convex edges need sharpening, refer to the the page, How to sharpen concave and convex cabinet scrapers.
Scraper body
The bodies of both types are similar in shape and contain the convex and concave blades.
The body provides an area for you to hold the tool when pushing or pulling it along the wood, to smooth it or remove an old paint or varnish covering.
