How to test temperature with a multimeter |

Step 1 – Plug in probeFor measuring temperature, insert the type K temperature probe into the common and voltage jacks or into the dedicated thermocouple socket, depending on your multimeter design. |

Step 2 – Set dialRotate the dial to the temperature setting, represented by the thermometer symbol or either °C or °F symbols. There may be separate settings for the different units, so select the one you require.
If there is only one temperature setting on the dial, the units can often be changed with a button on the device. |

Step 3 – Place probeThe probe is quite sensitive and will alter with changes in air temperature. The actual probe is the very end of the wire and should be in contact with the object you wish to measure. |

Step 4 – Take readingWait for the value on the screen to stabilise and double check the correct unit is displayed on the screen, then take the number as your reading.
For multimeters with the capability to convert values from centigrade to Fahrenheit and vice versa, press the button specified to change between °C and °F. |
